RADISH at the forefront of nanomechanics – In-situ electron microscopy workshop in Toulouse

On January 27-29, 2026, Hanna, a member of RADISH team, participated in the In situ Electron Microscopy Workshop organized by CEMES-CNRS and the MecaNano network (COST Action CA21121) in Toulouse. The workshop program included hands-on sessions on:

  • In situ TEM techniques for real-time observation of deformation mechanisms
  • In situ SEM micro-compression
  • Nanoindentation and data analysis for structural materials

The workshop also featured 15 scientific presentations, including lectures by world-renowned experts like Daniel Caillard (author of book “Thermally Activated Mechanisms in Crystal Plasticity”) and Patrick Cordier (author of a 2024 Nature paper on dislocation glide in olivine). Attending their talks live was a unique opportunity for our team member. The knowledge and insights gained during the workshop have broadened our perspective on the capabilities of in situ techniques and will serve as a valuable reference in the RADISH project.

Hanna has taken the first step into a larger world. Beyond the high-quality scientific program, the event was highly educative and informative, and provided an excellent opportunity to connect with researchers working on similar problems.
